A freak thing happened in Kenya the other day: enough hail fell in the town of Nyahururu to cover the land and bring folks out to chuck hail-balls at each other. Kenyan newspapers reported it as both a scientific curiosity and a weird biblical revelation.
"A rare business opportunity presented itself to photographers as joyful residents posed for pictures, walking, ,and tasting hailstones as others knelt on the cold ground in prayers of thanksgiving!" said the Sunday Nation.
Kenya does get hail storms now and again. Apparently this one was intense enough and occurred during weather cold enough that the hail didn't melt for a little while. Sounds like a reasonable explanation.
But not to the Havana-based news agency Prensa Latina. PL reported unnamed scientists calling the storm "clear evidence of a climate change." And then, naturally: "It is amazing that the country with the
greatest influence on the impact of climate change, the United States,
denies the importance of the situation and refuses to sign the Kyoto
Protocol."
Kenya's hail storm, a weapon on the US/Cuba propaganda war.
